Dashboard

What are the main features of your dashboard?

Our dashboard provides these functionalities:

  • Image database upload for visual indexing
  • Testing ground for image search
  • Detailed reports on the number of searches conducted by your users

For more information on how to set up your ViSenze account, refer to this page.

Image indexing

What image formats can be used for visual search?

Our visual technology can work its magic on most image formats such as .bmp, .dib, .jpeg, .jpg, .jpe, .jp2, .png, .webp, .pbm, .pgm, .ppm, .sr, .ras, .tiff, .tif, .gif.

What should the size of the images be?

We support images with a minimum size of 100 x 100 pixels. To ensure optimal search results, we recommend images to be larger than 800 x 800 pixels.

Are there any constraints on the shape of the image? For example, do they have to be square-shaped?

No, there are no constraint.

Should I pass you the images or the image urls?

We don’t host the images on our side. We only need the Image URLs from your side. Our systems will extract certain visual features needed and store it on our side.

My image is not recognized on your dashboard. Why?

If you have used an image URL, the address you copied might not be useable. Please download the image and use that to search instead.

I will need to update my image database on a daily basis, should I update the entire database or should I just add the new and delete outdated images?

You can do it either way - update your whole database or just the individual images - both are fine by us. Just remember to remove those images that you don’t need anymore so you will not get charged for them.

Does the indexing of my images happen in parallel? When multiple insert calls are fired, is it possible for the second transaction to complete before the first one?

The indexing process is an asynchronous process. This process takes place in batches, taking about 5 minutes to get the new data indexed (to be searchable and used as queries).

Is the similarity score between 2 images bi-directional? For example, would the similarity score be the same (between x image and y image) and (between y image and x image)?

Yes, the similarity score is bi-directional.

API integration

Wix allows me to add html/ Javascript codes to our site, which calls the third party’s API functions. Is there a way I can add the signature authentication processes into our html/ Javascript code?

Yes you could do the front end integration using our JavasScript Widget. Check the Get Started Guide for more information.

Troubleshooting

When the image URL changes, why is it not reflected in ViSenze? ie. The data captured by the image does not change.

Our backend most likely is unable to access the image as an account or password is required to access it.

I have been testing the results and there are instances where I don’t see good visual matches. Why are there inconsistencies in the search results?

We are always working hard to provide the best possible results. Visual Search is a product built on top of complicated machine learning and computer vision algorithms. Our results while technically correct, can be perceived differently from a human perspective and in different contexts. We are always trying to get perfect results but this may not be possible 100% of the time. This is a continuous process and your feedback is certainly helping us to improve our results. We will work closely with you to achieve the results you have in mind and we would certainly want you to be confident about them before going live with our technology.
